Welcome
I like novels built on big ideas with characters that
make me laugh and cry and take me away for a
while.
I like speeches that don’t take things too seriously
but have a point and get to it quickly.
I believe in laughter and can always find something
to laugh at.
I strive for clarity of method, thought, and
philosophy in everything I do.
I believe in the power of a well placed wisecrack.
What’s new
“The band played
the old songs that
never failed, songs
of bawdiness
washed down with a
sip of moral justice:
serious enough to
bring forth a tear
and
silly enough to raise
a smile.”
In a world
of faeries,
elves,
maermaids, (and maerbutlers), a tyrant
incites a violent rebellion that destroys a
peaceful and prosperous kingdom. Only a
cursed innkeeper, a powerless queen, a
handful of pirates, and a dozen bastards
stand in the way of total devastation.
It’s fun, it’s funny, and it’s intense.

Knights of The Gold Piece Inn*, Volume
2 of The Book of Bastards Trilogy, is in its
first draft.
Ransom sends the second draft to beta-
testers for comments/criticism/wisecracks--
if you’d like to be a beta-reader, send him a
note, he’d love to have your eyes on his
prize--and the third draft is the one that is
sent to the copy editor. That is, it’s still at
least few months away from ready.
* Yes, the title was supposed to be Bastard
Knights but Amazon considers the word
“bastard” profane and won’t allow
promotion on its site; the site from which
85% of all ebooks are sold, so we bow to
one of the richest men in the world, but not
happily.
What’s next
•
The first draft of Knights of The Gold
Piece Inn, Volume 2 of the trilogy, is
complete.

In Coyote Son, the story of a child
raised by coyotes who learns to
straddle the domesticated and wild
worlds, Ransom returns to high
concept fiction. It’s going to blow you
away, but he has to do a ton of
research--animal and insect behavior,
tracking, cattle ranching, immigration
enforcement--to get it just right.
